The Iraqi Private Banks League, as part of a high-level Iraqi banking delegation, visited the UK Parliament and met with Sadiq al-Hassan, Chairman of the Iraq-Britain Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The meeting, held at the UK Parliament, explored ways to strengthen banking and trade relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and expand opportunities for cooperation between financial institutions in both countries.

A key focus of the discussions was enabling Iraqi banks to open accounts with British banks, a step regarded as essential for facilitating bilateral financial and commercial transactions and supporting the integration of Iraq’s banking sector into the international financial system.

The discussions align with ongoing reform and development efforts in Iraq’s financial sector. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing effective economic partnerships that support development and serve the shared interests of the two countries.
